Swimming for SW Alberta’s Headwaters

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 Nichole Robinson, 26, swam the length of the Oldman Reservoir. The Lethbridge resident swam to alert the public to the danger of water pollution from the open pit coal mines proposed in the Eastern Slopes between Blairmore and Chain Lakes. Lethbridge gets 100% of its water from the Oldman River Watershed.

Despite the very windy conditions, Nichole (accompanied by her husband, Ragnar, in a kayak) started her swim at about 9:30 a.m. at the North Fort Campground and finished it at 2 p.m. at the Windy Point Day Use Area on the Oldman Reservoir. Read Nichole’s media release here.
