Unspoiled Beauty

For a glimpse of this extraordinary landscape, drive the Cowboy Trail (Highway 22) from the junction of secondary highway 520 south to Highway 3. It traverses a landscape that remains in much the same upspoiled condition as the first settlers found it a century and a half ago.

Valued Heritage

This exceptionally beautiful area is the homeland of the Piikani, Stoney Nakoda and other First Nations signatories to Treaty Seven, and has been central to Alberta’s ranching heritage since the mid to late 1800’s.

Recreation and Tourism

The unparalleled beauty of this region has made it a popular destination for tourists, movie companies and recreational users. People are drawn by the opportunity to experience one of last remaining areas of natural prairie, wide open spaces, clean rivers, lakes and streams, and the unusual diversity of wildlife.
